Work in progress - I experimented with salt, both fine and coarse, in the background shapes. Now, the freezer paper backing needs removing, and the silk paint needs "fixing" by ironing. Then it needs stretching around white board, and a mount cutting. I'm intending losing a lot of the yellow background ... more photos to follow ...

Iris silk painting
I've just finished the first of a series of Iris and poppy pictures/artwork. These photos show two paintings of irises on silk - from the design to "ready for fixing" with the iron. The detail on the iris above is my first experiment with adding salt. I'm eager to repeat the experiment, maybe in the background for the next one. Both pictures are now offered for sale on eBay.

100% wool hat
This was an enjoyable project, and the yarn is great to knit with - I bought a luxurious hank of 100% hand spun and hand
dyed wool when on holiday in Tasmania, as a souvenir (A$26 for 100g!) It’s been dyed in shades of yellow and spring
green, and the unevenness in the yarn is because it is hand spun.
