Finished and ready for sale - a picture of three iris flower heads created in batik. These photos show the design, from the pencil outline
on the material and then waxing any areas I wanted to keep white; painting and
waxing the yellow centres and the green leaves; painting, and overpainting, the
flowerheads in shades of pink, some areas with blue added to the wet paint. Finally,
I waxed the flowerheads meaning the whole picture was covered in resist – but I
scrunched the material to crack the wax and dipped it into pink dye for the background
effect. The wax then needed removing with a hot iron and absorbent paper.
