Picturesque Exhibition 2019

I'm sharing this amazing space for the whole of November with 11 friends. The photos show such a variety of art and craft work, of which we are incredibly proud. Please come along if you live locally ...

Just half a cup please

Experimenting with china cups - I found them almost impossible to cut  with wheeled nippers! This is now ready for our exhibition at Picturesque, Scarborough in November.

Anne Bronte 200

This is ready for Scarborough's exhibition in January 2020 commemorating Anne Bronte's life. Each artist has been allocated a page from "The Tennant of Wildfell Hall", with the instruction - create a same sized piece of artwork, based on the page/Anne Bronte's life.
On my page, the heroine is rejecting a suitor - and uses the word "NO" several times. The waves are quotations from my page. But additionally, I linked my artwork with AB's time in Scarborough - and how we use the word NO today,  to try to deter people from feeding the gulls.

Spin till you're dizzy

This was inspired by my grandson Robin, who loves to do all these things.

Heart mosaics - greeting cards

These mosaics on wooden hearts have been turned into greetings cards, ready for sale.
The iris heart is too big for a standard card, but will make a hanging.

Mosaic butterfly

This mosaic is done on a shaped piece of  MDF . The top picture shows the design and the other photo shows it grouted. It's ready to hang - but I may (one day!) create a floral mosaic background for it to hover over.
Please email if you would like to buy it before it goes in our November exhibition.

Boots

Work in progress.
I do a lot of welly painting as planters - but this is an experiment to create a hound from several pairs of wellies. Fun - but maybe this is just a one off!

Batik giraffe cushion

The giraffes are in batik, cut out from their background which turned out too dark - I've stitched them on to calico. The "mount" is also batik cut from a different piece of artwork. The back of the cushion is calico. I'm getting ready for our Picturesque exhibition and sale of work in November (details nearer the time). This, and the other items listed this month, are  for sale - please email for details.

Trio of soft furnishings

I've been busy this last week catching up on all the "makes" I had promised myself to do. I bought this gorgeous material in Africa back in February and have made a noticeboard, a cushion cover and a lampshade.

These are made from a floral remnant showing some lovely seed heads. I'm delighted with the lampshade - first time ever, from a kit.

Ayton Art Exhibition

My thanks to the lovely people who chatted about my artwork this week, but special thanks to those who have given my pictures a new home.

Mosaic owl box

I've just finished adding a mosaic lid to this hinged wood box. The photos show progress from the initial design to the finished box.
I'm going to list it for sale on eBay at £15, so please email me direct if you would like to give it a good home.

Ayton Art Exhibition 2019

These are my entries for the local art exhibition, plus some boots and wellies which  I've painted and planted up to augment the flower vases.

A Snapshot of Ayton - mosaic

This is my second larger mosaic - having enjoyed creating a snapshot of Scarborough earlier in the year, I thought I would use the same idea for landmarks in my own village of Ayton. Hence ... the ruins of the castle, Ayton Parish Church and war memorial with poppies, the water mill, the "old" bridge with the River Derwent and the weir. Plus the heron and one of the many mallard ducks. The first photo shows it framed and the others show progress over a few weeks. It will be at the Ayton Art Exhibition next month and I'm hoping it will find a good home.
