I started this at a workshop run by
Sue Slack who has a distinctive style in paintings of the North York Moors area.
Loving my holidays around Keswick, I chose a photograph of Ashness Bridge as my
subject matter. I started by covering the whole canvas in orange acrylic paint,
then worked upside down, identifying areas of countryside and painting them
with a different base coat.
Next came the detailing, working
with the picture the right way up. I loved the technique and I’ll try it again –
I have in mind to try working from my photograph of Grange Bridge in the same
style.
