Planter and shelf - Rescue and Re-purposing

 

My current creating “theme” is … RESCUE and RE-PURPOSE.

I’ve made two wooden shelves by sawing in half a 10” diameter wooden bowl, bought from a charity shop. The depth of the bowl is 10cm. I’ve made a mosaic design on each. One has 5 flower heads, with green foliage. The other has a mosaic bee in the centre, with flowers on either side. The mosaics are not grouted.

To fix the half-bowl to a wall, there are two mirror plates, which will fit onto two screws drilled into the wall. Or - I’ve added picture cord so it could be more temporary, and hang on the wall. It could also be a free-standing planter …e.g. on a window sill.

The wellies were painted initially with two coats of gesso, then two coats of powder blue acrylic paint. The designs have been added with a mixture of Posca pens and acrylic paint. One welly has a bee theme, and the other has butterflies, a dragonfly, and a ladybird.

Quilling - OWL CARDS

 

This project was to turn quilled shapes into owls, and I've made three blank greeting cards

I cut strips of coloured paper from glossy magazines, which I rolled into circles. For extras like beaks and wings, I used bought quilling paper.

Each card has fabric backing for the owl, and a twig for him to stand on. The insides are blank for your messages. Each card has an envelope, but it is larger than the envelope provided with the blank cards, to accommodate the 3D effect.
