December 2021 update - Harvest Mouse welly SOLD
This was a "one off" experiment with knitted squares - not to be repeated! I'm pleased with the end result but the process was somewhat "wonky donkey"! I think the problem was that I raided my wool stash and used "leftovers" - whereas, if I ever did another, I would buy new wool - all the same make and ply.
However, it does what it says on the tin and is incredibly warm - ideal for over the legs when you don't want to put the central heating on!
Not all negative - the individual sheep squares work well - I'm hatching a future project!
It could be purely decorative, or have a plant in it - or because of its height, it could be an umbrella stand.
The scenes are highlights of Scarborough where I live - the hungry seagulls, the lighthouse, the castle, beach huts, and of course, the beach and sea. Before I start painting, I paint the rubber surface with gesso to give the acrylic paint a surface to key on to.
Height 44cm/17.5"cm; sole length 26.5cm/10.52, size UK7
Weight 1153g
£30 free postage to UK Mainland
I still have the other half of the pair of Hunter's wellies, and am pondering ... what next? Please email me if you are interested in a bespoke design.
I have two identical deep frames and wanted to create a pair of local scenes. This one represents Scarborough - the inevitable seagull, beach chalets, the lighthouse, the castle and of course, the beach and sea. My second mosaic, below, is of Filey - it just needs grouting and framing.
SOLD
Frame 32cm x 23cm; mosaic 28cm x 19cm; 3cm deep
UPDATE: The Filey mosaic is now finished as below.
Both mosaics have been sold. Please email if you are interested in a similar one.
