Teasel collage

It was a spectacular year in the garden for teasels, and the goldfinches have returned en masse (think that's due to the bird feeders and not the teasels!). The background is blue acrylic paint and scrunched cling film. The teasel heads started as glossy paper ovals, with the edges cut into spikes, then over-painted with lines to give texture. Finally the stems were painted on. I practised drawing and colouring goldfinches before I finally decided to paint just two birds, directly onto the teasels. I've also done a postcard sized picture, ready for our art exhibition later this year.
