UPDATE: Sadly my entry wasn't accepted by the art gallery, but the GOOD NEWS is that it has sold locally. Thanks Dawn.
This is my entry for EAST COAST OPEN, an exhibition for local artists held at Scarborough Art Gallery during the summer. Time will tell if my work is accepted. Fingers crossed for now.
I've made three mosaic pictures of the highlights of the east coast area where I live.
The top mosaic is Whitby, showing the whales bones on the north side, where you can look through to the Abbey and Church, to be visited once you've climbed up the 199 steps. There is a fishing boat and a fish in the harbour, Whitby lighthouse, and the famous FORTUNES smoke house, where kippers are sold.
The middle mosaic shows highlights of Scarborough seafront - the castle on the headland, the lighthouse and beach huts. Of course I couldn't do a picture of Scarborough without including the infamous seagulls, waiting to steal fish and chips!
Further down the coast, between Filey and Bridlington, there are the cliffs at Bempton and Flamborough, where the puffins nest in summer.
