ROBIN cake tin wall art

Over the last few years, I’ve RESCUED a wealth of items in need of REUSING, RECYCLING, and REPURPOSING … reducing my stockpile will be my target for my next few projects. For the two items I’ve finished today, I used loose bottom cake tins from a charity shop, and part of a metal length of outdoor wind chimes.
I cut two robin shapes from new MDF, using an electric jigsaw, to which I added mosaic craft tiles. I then grouted the two birds.
For the bottom of the cake tins, I sprayed a layer of white aerosol paint. On one I used green, yellow, and blue acrylic paint, applied with a sponge in random overlapping areas, thus creating colour mixing on the tin base. For the second base, I made card stencils of ivy leaves, and applied green paint for a leafy background.
The tins each have two holes for the picture cord, for hanging the decoration on a wall.
