I began with a charity shop wooden board, which has
been sterilized, sanded, and had several coats of clear wax. It has been
drilled to take a picture cord for hanging on a wall, but I’m including two
screws and rawl plugs, so it can be a permanent fixture.
Next … a new experiment with alcohol inks and a
surplus bathroom wall tile. I’ve never used alcohol inks before, but they give
amazing colour runs. I experimented on YUPO paper, blowing different coloured
drops of ink into each other, as shown in the last photos. You can spray the
surface with isopropyl/alcohol spray (IPA) to disperse the ink, which leaves
different textures on the paper or tile.
Then a final “creation” on the tile with mosaic craft
tiles. I glued the tile onto the board, added a border of ceramic tiles, and a
new decorative key or coat hook. Thus, “Flower Burst” was created!
