Seascape oil painting - "Whirlwinds of Spray"

This is my own artisan oil painting which I’ve mounted with a cream and dark blue mount, and put into a pre-loved frame, which is in good condition.

I live in Scarborough and at the beginning the year it was the 200th anniversary of Anne Bronte’s death, with commemorative celebrations here in Scarborough where she is buried. I was proud to be involved in recreating her book “The Tenant of Wildfell Hall” which was an exhibition of artwork based on the 200 pages of the book, by 200 artists. The photos below show my work for that exhibition and the book produced with all the artwork included.

The inspiration for today's picture comes from Anne Bronte’s poem – “Lines Composed in a Wood on a Windy Day”. In November 2020, myself and a group of friends will be using this poem for our own artwork, to be included in our annual exhibition, again to be held in Scarborough. I’ve called this piece of work “Whirlwinds of Spray” from her last verse. For the November exhibition we are producing postcard sized pieces of artwork. Lines Composed in a Wood on a Windy Day

My soul is awakened, my spirit is soaring
And carried aloft on the wings of the breeze;
For above and around me the wild wind is roaring,
Arousing to rapture the earth and the seas.

The long withered grass in the sunshine is glancing,
The bare trees are tossing their branches on high;
The dead leaves, beneath them, are merrily dancing,
The white clouds are scudding across the blue sky.

I wish I could see how the ocean is lashing
The foam of its billows to whirlwinds of spray;
I wish I could see how its proud waves are dashing,
And hear the wild roar of their thunder today!

Pink Bunting

I've just finished another length of hand knit bunting, this time in shades of pink and white. It's almost 4m in length plus ties, with 25 pennants.

Hand painted silk POPPY picture

This is a new LOCKDOWN painting of poppies - hand painted on silk. The finished silk has been stretched over board, with a beige and green double mount. The poppies are shades of red, and the background is pale yellow.

The photos show various stages from my design drawn onto freezer paper, to the unmounted but finished work. There’s also a photo of it behind the frame, but I'm waiting for the framer to re-open after lockdown so I can get hardboard backing, hence this temporary photo.

Hand painted silk iris picture

This is a new painting of irises - hand painted on silk. The finished silk has been stretched over board, with a beige and green double mount. The iris are shades of pink and purple, and the background is lime green.

The photos show various stages from my design drawn onto freezer paper, to the unmounted but finished work. The close-up photos show the effect of adding salt to wet silk paint.

This is currently for sale as a mounted but not framed piece of work for £30 plus £6 postage to UK mainland.

Special occasion cards

In response to a request about a Golden Wedding card, I experimented with interlocking hearts and quilling on an A5 sized card. Because of lock-down, and the fact that I don't have a variety of quilling colours in stock, I used acrylic paint to achieve the gold and silver hearts. The blue butterflies are printed, using a 

hand made "funky foam" shape stuck onto a card backing. The messages are attached with foam sticky pads. 
Similar cards would be £10 each, post free.
