Scarborough Memories Mosaic

Mosaic picture SCARBOROUGH MEMORIES, signed, original

I designed this mosaic picture based on Scarborough highlights - the castle, the lighthouse, beach chalets, sand, sea and seagull. It's the town where I live. I used MDF as a base. Photos show progress, the grouted piece and finally the picture framed for hanging on a wall. It is signed.

Approximate measurements:

Mosaic: 28cm x 30cm, glued onto white mount board

Frame 36cm square - including a white 2cm surround

Weight - 1.911kg

FOR SALE - £35 free post to UK mainland

Iris silk painting

Iris silk painting - The Blue Lagoon – original, signed, framed

This is my own design of irises using silk paints onto Habico silk. I’d been commissioned to paint irises with a turquoise background (as one of the pictures) and I decided to paint another with the irises themselves in turquoise shades.  The first task is to do the design onto freezer paper, and then to iron that onto the silk. Next a gutta outline is needed to stop the silk paint “bleeding” into the background. The speckling is created using salt which draws out specks of colour. The title “Blue Lagoon” is reminiscent of a holiday in Malta. After removing the freezer paper, the finished painting has been stretched over mount board.

SORRY SOLD. This picture is for sale, £30, including the pre-loved frame. Post free to UK mainland.

Below are more photos of progress and close up photos of the individual irises.

East and West Ayton Arts and Crafts Trail

For two weekends in August I'm taking part in the art and craft village trail, which means I set up my tables of work for sale at my gate. I'm fortunate that there is a long grass frontage alongside the pavement, with overhanging trees for shelter from the rain.

One successful weekend down. One to go! I've been busy this last week replenishing stock - mainly cards and small mosaic items. Here are photos of the first weekend.

These are my finished cards and mosaics ready for the Bank Holiday weekend ...

Scarborough highlights and puffin wellies

I've just finished painting a pair of seaside wellies, now gone to a new home. This has been a great lock-down project, especially as I missed seeing the puffins at RSPB Bempton cliffs this summer. Hopefully next year!
